Located at 20 Main Street, this place is a must see! We have long awaited the opening of this 20’s style speak easy owned by Greg Nicotero and Norman Reedus. For months we had heard rumors that Greg & Norman were opening a new restaurant in the former location of La Mesa del Sur but none of our Senoia friends knew the opening date or the theme. We were completely blown away from the minute we stepped through the door. The decor is simple, elegant, and tasteful. According to General Manager Ronny Clark, “Senoia is a must-visit for Walking Dead fans. Greg and Norman wanted a cool place for fans to eat. The name will draw people, but the quality of the food and service will bring them back. Our goal is to be an establishment that is a standard for dining experiences.” We wholeheartedly agree!
From the oversized Edison bulbs that hang over the bar, to the hand crafted arrow-style tiebacks on the drapery, to the vintage looking sugar and salt & pepper shakers- the attention to detail is obvious and classy. Norman’s photography hangs above the large, but intimate booths. You can’t miss the huge, beautiful wood bar that is polished to a high shine. Everything about Nic & Norman’s says, “Welcome! Pull up a chair and stay awhile”.
This is the sort of place you want to just hang out, sip some cocktails and enjoy the atmosphere. There is the specialty drink list (we wanted to have one of each drink listed!) and a great selection of draft beers on tap (our beer recommendation: Wild Heaven’s Civilization. It’s dangerously good!)
The menu itself is simple, but unique and there is a little bit of everything for whatever you may be in the mood for. Mr Clark says, “We wanted a different menu so that we would not interfere with the cuisine of other restaurants.” The majority of the food served is non-GMO and sustainably farmed. Greg and Norman both have a burger “pick”: Norman’s is a Bison burger with beetroot and a fried egg (he recommends this one on the un-bun which is essentially a lettuce wrap, but you can order it on one of the many freshly baked breads). Greg’s is a blend of chuck, short rib, and brisket with blue cheese on a potato bun. Pictured above is Stephen’s order: a bison burger complete with bacon and cheese served with their signature “sidewinder” fries. Be sure you ask for a side of Nic & Norman’s sauce, it is fantastic! In addition to the Bison burger, our gang ordered the turkey burger, fried chicken sandwich, crab cakes and onions rings- all were outstanding! We did not order a dessert, but we certainly plan to next time.
Be sure to buy a t-shirt, pint glass, shot glass, bottle opener or hat to commemorate your experience. Merchandise is located at the front left of the main entrance.
The next time you find yourself in Senoia and are looking for a place to relax, have some great food and wonderful service- we highly suggest visiting Nic & Normans!
