You may have seen Walker Stalker Con has a whole week’s worth fun activities in and around Atlanta leading up the main event, Walker Stalker Con, at the Georgia World Congress Center this weekend. In honor of WSC Atlanta’s 5th anniversary, the week full of “extra” events which kicked off last Sunday. One of these events is The Dead Truth. Little has been said about what exactly this event is about other than some very cryptic tweets, a mysterious website, and a Facebook group.
Jessie & Allie had the pleasure of speaking with the creator of The Dead Truth, Nick Floyd, to see if he could let us in on what this event is exactly. Nick is the Vice President of Visual Media for Walker Stalker Con. If you have seen the commercials for the con or checked out the web series, Control, on FanFest.com these are all Nick’s handiwork!
The Dead Truth is described as an “immersive experience” that is part escape room and part scavenger hunt. Nick says this is not a one-room escape, he did advise participants to wear comfortable clothing and footwear will be in multiple locations and rely heavily on teamwork. He also said your experience can begin at any time so be ready to begin when you arrive.
Nick was pretty hush hush on the story-line…but we can tell you the setting is post-apocalyptic with an overarching theme of good vs. evil. Participants will be racing the clock and each other and the winning team will not only get an exclusive extra experience but will also receive a prize.
We loved hearing the passion and excitement in Nick’s voice as he spoke about all the fun and unique event details. He and his team have not only created an event they have created art. Coming from a filmmaking background, Nick not only wants to tell the audience a story, he wants the audience to become part of the story and get lost in it. He and his team have paid attention to every little detail from the location to the puzzles to the settings, they want to make sure this is an experience that fans will remember for years to come.
Did we mention this is a deal?! At a price point of $2o a person, you are not only getting a The Dead Truth ticket but also your entry to The Contamination Station Cocktail Mixer. At the party, you will be able to mingle with others The Dead Truth participants and enjoy themed drinks. The website also states there will be “surprises around every corner”. This is such fabulous deal for what promises to be an incredible experience.
The 3 pm run is SOLD OUT and the 5 pm run is getting extremely limited. You can purchase tickets here. You can also purchase a ticket to The Contamination Station Cocktail Mixer separately for $10. There are age restrictions for these events so be sure you check the website for complete details.
We want to wish all the participants the best of luck. We can’t wait to hear about your experience so make sure you catch us at the Con this week or leave a comment below and share your experience with us and our readers.
We want to thank Nick for taking time out of his busy schedule to chat with us. We hope you all enjoy The Dead Truth, be sure to check back in with us and tell us how much you enjoyed it!
